Synopsis:

I have a problem. I’m stuck on a birthday party trip to Paris with my little sister and her four BFFs.

That’s not my problem.

My problem is in the form of my cocky, arrogant, rock star stepbrother, Jagger. He betrayed my trust years ago and I haven’t been able to forgive him ever since.

We’re two different people.

I’m in college and the good girl in every sense of the word. Perfect GPA, perfect group of friends, and worlds apart from my Internet famous stepbrother who’s famously known for breaking hearts and leaving throngs of screaming fans in his wake.

So how can I tell my body to stop going crazy every time we’re together?

And when you’re sharing a room with the hottest man you know in the most romantic city in the world, how can you possibly say no?

When our love threatens to ignite, will we burn up or survive the scandal that’s about to rock both our worlds?

Review:

Jagger by Olivia Hawthorne was initially published as a three book serial. It has been bundled, edited and republished as a standalone NA novel.

Jessa and Jagger are the main characters in this somewhat taboo romance. Jagger is a musician with a modicum of fame due to YouTube videos. In addition to his talent, the girls are attracted to his long dark hair, rock-hard abs and his ink. He takes advantage of their lust and gets all the booty calls he can handle. His bandmates think of him as a horn-dog. Although I found his booty calls despicable, when it came to his siblings, Jagger was first class. Jessa is his stepsister. She is a couple years younger, and they used to be good friends when they were young. She’s the perfect package: good looking, smart and industrious. She’s a good girl, and she is totally disgusted by Jagger’s antics. She should have been more likable, but I didn’t find her to be likable at all. Jessa frequently sounded like a petulant child, she jumped to conclusions over and over again without bothering to directly ask a question. I know this is meant to set up the story conflict and angst, but it is a very unlikable trait.

Jagger is accompanying Jessa to Paris to chaperone their younger sister, Elena’s 14 birthday celebration. This brings Jessa dread instead of relief, but on more than one occasion, Jagger’s presence saves the day. Jagger’s crush on Jessa has long been unrequited, so he has all but given up. However, the City of Lights provides ample opportunities for feelings to get stirred up, and Jagger makes his move. Is he just a vacation fling or does he have real feelings? Jaded Jessa isn’t sure she can trust his motives or his words. She looks for reasons not to believe him.

The couple has one angsty moment after another as they deal with their feelings toward one another, their obligations, their friends’ and family’s opinions, and Jessa jumping to conclusions. It all comes to a head when one mistake has a significant consequence. Rich, hot young men born into rock-star dynasties are definitely on my list of hot daydreams, so I found Jagger to be a fun and entertaining 4-star escape from real life.
