Heated Sweets (A Taste of Love Series #3)

Author: A.M. Willard

Cover Design: MadHat Books

What it’s about:

Do you believe someone can change your whole perspective on life? I didn’t, but I do now…

It all happens when I meet my sexy neighbor, Evan Taylor.

My name’s Francesca, better known as Frankie, and I’ve been hiding behind my camera for years. It’s what I know and love- not to mention the best way to disguise myself. It’s easy to make life look perfect from this side, even when yours is in shambles. My chronic illness is my biggest insecurity, and what I not only hide from myself, but from the world. Good thing I have a group of friends who can supply me with massive overloads of cupcakes, or life would totally stink.

Brody’s always been my crutch, but I knew deep down that he wouldn’t be the one I’d end up with. We just had to find a way to let the past go as we moved forward with our search of happiness. He’ll always be my hero, but sometimes in life you need more than a cape.

Evan Taylor is exciting, and doesn’t expect me to give him the world. He accepts me for who I am with no additional pressure. Evan’s also the one who can offer me the one thing I think I can’t give him – life. With the passion and desire that we hold for each other–it might be enough to win in the end and come out from behind the camera.

My Thoughts:

Heated Sweets is the third book in A.M. Willard’s Taste of Love series.  Each book in the series has featured one woman from a solid group of friends.  Each of these ladies has found the man of her dreams while dealing with all of life’s drama.

Francesca’s (AKA Frankie) story is a little different than the prior books.  Heated Sweets has a little less humor and a fairly intense issue for “Frankie’s” drama.  Frankie suffers from endometriosis.  She has physical pain, and she suffers emotionally.  How can she commit to someone if she isn’t sure she can have children?  How could she possibly have a fulfilling life?  She really struggles with this, and it impacts her life decisions.

Frankie is a talented photographer and sadly she uses that talent to hide behind her camera.  That camera is like a Berlin Wall around her heart and soul.  She pushes away the one man who has been by her side through thick and thin.  Frankie and Brody are best friends who tried to be lovers.  Their bond is messy and white hot, like being tangled in bed sheets in the middle of a heat wave without air conditioning.  They will always be there for one another, but they tend to bring out the worst in each other outside of the bedroom.

When Frankie returns from NYC, can she and Brody start again?  Should they?  Fans of the series will undoubtedly be hoping for a second-chance-at-love romance story.  I definitely was expecting an angsty journey to a HEA for the pair, but you never know what will happen when you move into a new neighborhood.  There are new people, new opportunities, and new chances.

Heated Sweets wraps up a couple story lines, and provides a lovely, yet unexpected ending to Frankie’s tale.  Morgan, Zara, Frankie and Natasha are women I would want in my life.  They are the sort of friends you’d do anything for in order to make them happy.  Heated Sweets is a thoroughly satisfying read!

About the Author

Bestselling Author, A.M. Willard resides in Savannah, Georgia. She joined the Peach State many years ago after leaving the crystal blue waters and sugary white sand behind from the Panhandle of Florida. She’s also known for being a wife, mother, and caretaker for her farm animals. A.M. loves anything sassy, glittery, and is a sucker for the Hallmark Channel. That last one might be the reason she believes in soulmates or it could be because she married her high school sweetheart almost twenty years ago.
