What It’s About:

EDEN

I’m just a simple girl who likes dessert. And sexy men. And social media. So starting an anonymous video channel called The Sexpert as a side hustle to make up for my low-paying marketing job at Le Man Magazine seemed like a perfectly sensible career
decision. Until we went viral, my boss accused my anonymous personality of stealing his idea, and now my super sexy new boyfriend, Andrew, is out to get me.

Her. Me. Whatever.

ANDREW

I don’t want it to be her. I do not want this… sweet, delicious, shy social media nerd working at my best friend’s magazine to be the face behind those perky cupcakes on the Sexpert channel. I don’t want it to be her… because I like her. A lot. She’s funny, and quirky, and smart, and creative… and… I really, really like her. It just can’t be her.

But it is.

And now I have to choose.

My best friend?

Or… The Sexpert?

My Thoughts:

The Sexpert is the start of the Tall, Dark & Handsome series from authors J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain.  This book is a delicious romantic comedy, and not just because of the dessert analogies!  Sweet, funny, and romantic sums it up, but really doesn’t do the book justice.

The Sexpert is filled with hilarity, awkward moments and scintillating sexy scenes.  The references to Eden’s YouTube blog are wry and ribald. Balancing out the light-hearted humor are moments of thoughtful life reflection.

Eden, Andrew and Pierce are great characters.  I loved each of them.  Eden is sweet and a bit naive.  Andrew thinks he is a chill dude, but is he really a scorned lover with a three-foot brick wall around his heart?  Pierce is that character you want to hate, but just when you think he is a total jerk, he does something totally thoughtful.  What do you call a protagonistic antagonist?

The romantic comedy is set in downtown Denver, and the authors give their readers perfectly painted scenes.  It’s almost like being on a walking tour with them.  The conclusion and epilogue provide a satisfying HFN for Eden and Andrew.  I’m looking forward to more of this sweet and spicy series, and I’m secretly hoping that Pierce will be featured in the next book.  If you’re not already a fan of Huss and McClain, you will be after reading The Sexpert.
