My Thoughts:

The Bachelor on the Shelf is the sixth installment of author Jana Aston’s Reindeer Falls holiday rom-com series. The series consists of loosely-tied novellas that can be read as standalones, but I doubt anyone will be able to stop at just one!

Bachelor on the Shelf features Lexie the librarian and Carter Sheppard, one more of the Carter brothers in town just to collect his inheritance. Carter has two problems, he has a bad-boy image to fix and his inheritance is a dog that Lexie is extremely attached to. Lexie has only one problem, and that is Carter! Lexie is adorable in her love of animals and books. Carter goes from seemingly self-centered pro-jock to sensitive boyfriend a little too easily and without explanation., However, without that transition, what would Lexie or the reader have to swoon about?

Ms. Aston has created a wonderful small town in Reindeer Falls. I can imagine it as a snow globe scene. The Bachelor on the Shelf has no angst and little in the way of conflict/story tension. This quick, entertaining read is just pure fun and a true escape that got me in the mood for the holidays.
